Knoxville, Tennessee is Dr. Evon Hulse’s hometown. She considers herself the luckiest girl in the world to have met her husband, Dr. Russell Hulse, whom encouraged her pursuit of a career in dentistry, while she was living in Houston, Texas. She was elated to move back to East Tennessee after graduating Cum Laude from The University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio in 2003.
Since moving back home, she has begun to enjoy the outdoor beauty of East Tennessee by hiking in the Smokies and surfing, yes surfing on the lake. Every spring she anxiously awaits the return of the hummingbirds and blue birds to this area. Traveling is a particular love of hers; experiencing different cultures and making friends with people around the world.
Dr. Hulse can be found most days performing dental surgery on pediatric patients at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. She has been providing this service for our patients since 2004. She loves this type of dentistry because it allows the children with the most severe dental needs and the children who have had a previous bad dental experience a chance to have their needs taken care of in an environment that is free of fear. Dr. Evon and her husband, Dr. Russ, do not have children of their own, which is why they feel that the children of this practice are their children.

Dr. Russell Hulse is from a small town in West Texas and he graduated from The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 1997. He met his wife Dr. Evon Hulse during his senior year of dental school; she was originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. He fell in love with the mountains and lakes of our area so the couple relocated to East Tennessee after his wife had graduated from dental school.
Dr. Russ believes that laughter is the key to ending dental fear for his patients. He has a great sense of humor and can be found daily joking around with his patients, both young and old.
Hiking and camping in our beautiful mountains is a favorite pastime for him, as well as spending time on the lakes. He and his wife also travel extensively around the globe. He loves to spend time with his wife, Evon and their dogs, Macy and Roo.

A Canadian native, Dr. Nathan and his family moved to Southwest Arkansas when he was nine. He completed his undergraduate degree through Texas A & M and went to dental school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. After coming out to visit, Nathan jumped at the opportunity to move to and call East Tennessee home.
When he was not doing dentistry, Nathan enjoyed anything to do with music and food. He had played the guitar for most of his life and loved to go to a good concert. Nathan also liked to travel and try different foods from different cultures. He had taken a liking to the outdoor activities East Tennessee has to offer and had developed an interest in hiking.
